Hey Nicky! love your thinking too and the way you translate that into art is awesome!
Your Id/Avatar is cool, ive never onced looked at a girls hair and been reminded of a turban before, makes you look like a princess from an aladin/sinbad film or maybe.. ahhh omg.. your a high priestess, like solitaire in the Bond film!! Your so beautiful
I was at the art store the other day getting some paper and i thought of your work and ive got some spare canvases i need to use up, so looked at some acrylic paints.. how much!! Itd be cheaper to paint with gold So i looked at water colour and its was quite expensive too! Back when i was a kid .. showing my age paints were really cheap i used to paint all the time, i once even painted myself green like the incredible hulk and my bedroom windows so the light shined through
Ive only really used pencils and inks before, i think i will stick with those at least until i can paint well enough.. if that ever happens haha! Ooomg i had an idea, i will try the Toys R Us kids toys store i bet theyve got cheap paints to experiment with
Haha thank you, I didn't realize, I didn't set the photo in mention up in any way my hair does what it wants but I'm glad you like it. Creating art is incredibly expensive, especially in Australia. Especially using many colors. Even small, simple canvas can cost into the hundreds and moderately decent paint well into the hundreds here. I use acrylic as I certainly can't afford oil paint, it's hard to keep motivated when I keep throwing myself into decent debt. Certainly not a sustainable hobby for people less fortunate! I'd be interested to see what you end up creating!
Wow sounds even more expensive where you are! I can get 100cmx100cm stretched box framed canvas for £16 ($24 AUD) now only £12 online [link]
Just had a look online and found some 75ml Jo sonjas starting from under £4 ($6 AUD) [link][link] Soon adds up when you start buying them all though
Can i ask why youd choose oil over acrylic? to me acrylic seems easier to work with, like it can be watered down and washes off brushes with water, i only used oils once before and it was like plastering a wall and the paint just got used up so fast, i used a whole big tube in a minute and all i could smell for the rest of the afternoon was solvent
I always wanted to paint Blackbeard the pirate i need to draw him properly first though, thats going to be a challenge all on its own i will probably end up doing him over and over till im happy, if i create anything half good ill be sure to post it up on DA
Usually when i draw or paint i just start making lines and it ends up as something totally random, like i just see what happens but blackbeard with his smoking crazy beard and hair seems like a good thing to paint when i visualise it in my head, he just needs to be all colourfull and trippy! Shame i cant just press my ear and have it print out of my mouth rolled up just how i see it in my head, that would make a funny drawing like this
